Going Rogue

Star Wars is releasing its first spinoff Rogue One in theaters next year. I'm really excited to see what they do with it. I hope it's just as much of a treat as the main movies. This isn't the first time a spinoff has been done although you don't see it often. Based on the failure to success ratio, that doesn't surprise me all that much.

Spinoffs are a gamble, even when the movie/show you're spinning off of is a huge success. This topic has been on my mind lately because that's exactly what I'm hoping my writing can turn into. I don't want the story of the guardians to necessarily end with the Legacy series. My goal is for all of my novels to have some kind of connection to one another.

Doing so requires a pretty good deal of foresight. That's why I've planned out my next thirty novels! Yes, you read that right. Fortunately, for me, I'm not as big as the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) yet, so I can make a few tweaks here and there, but I'm hoping I can stay on the intended schedule. This helps me in a few ways: 1. It turns my goal into an actual written plan; 2. It keeps me focused on my current projects. There are days when I'm just not feeling it and the last thing I want to do is type more words onto a page. I'm human. This plan keeps me honest and helps me see the bigger picture; 3. It helps me envision which characters I want to include in what novels.

Excited to see what the future holds and even more excited for you to be a part of it.
